On 05 August, 2016 Prime University Language School (PULS) arranged a seminar on Japanese Language, Culture and Tradition in the conference room of the University at 10: 30 am. In the very beginning, the coordinator of PULS welcomed the guests and started the seminar. Chief Guest of the seminar, Professor Dr. M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor of Prime University emphasized the significance of teaching foreign languages in his speech. The Chairperson of the seminar and Director of PULS, Mir Shahabuddin delivered a short informative and motivational speech on the importance of learning foreign languages and how the students can enhance their employability through learning languages. The key note speaker of the seminar was Professor kobaiya Kawa Yoko from Toyou University, Japan. Professor Kobaiya Kawa in her presentation upholds a lovely picture of Japanese culture, lifestyle, food habit and tradition. The mesmerizing pictures of nature- the hilly areas, warm fountain, and snow covered fields invoke the audience to visit Japan. Professor Kobaiya suggests that enjoying a Japanese bath in the worm fountain would be a unique cultural experience. For first timers it may be a little scary, but once someone get used to it, the Japanese bath often becomes soothing, healing, and regenerating for its followers. Professor Kobaiya also surmises that bento is a packed lunch which might include a mix of Japanese dishes such as rice, meat, fish, and vegetables. Other food might include a sandwich, fruit, or snacks. Bento also refers to a pre-made Japanese lunch which is boxed and sold for take-out. It is also a well-liked menu item at many Japanese restaurants. Bento is trendy among adults and school children alike. Another guest Hirama Yasue, representative of Sakura International also talked about Japanese language and culture. Later on, a student of Japanese language, Monowar Hossain made a short conversation with Hirama Yasue in Japanese. In the last part of the session, the students asked questions regarding Japanese culture, language and the opportunities of studying in Japan. S.M. Khaleque-Uzzaman, faculty member of Japanese language concluded the seminar with vote of thanks to all.
